Fluttershy is a tall female pony with grapefruit pink hair and a creamy yellow coat. She represents the Element of Kindness. Her soft-spoken demeanor and always well-meaning intentions make her the perfect companion for any activity. She is irrepressibly shy and even when among friends she often has trouble speaking her mind unless asked or even pushed. She embraces the principle of 'Hope for the best, plan for the worst'.
Fluttershy has the Cutie Mark of 3 butterflies which represents her special ability to communicate with the different creatures of the world on a higher level than most. Though she has wings, she prefers to live in a cottage on the ground with the earth ponies so she can be closer to the animals she loves. She appears to have enough experience or training to provide veterinary care to the animals too. Her Cottage is filled with various bird houses and rodent runs for her friends to play with and live in. She also keeps chickens in a coop in her yard.
Little is known of Fluttershy's history (Let's see YOU get her to talk about it.) outside of her cutie mark story. We know from that story that she attended school in Cloudsdale which suggests she was born there as well. After her discovery of her cutie mark it is unclear if she dropped out of flight school at that point or completed her education and moved to Ponyville afterward. Her knowledge of veterinary care and engineering as well as her vocabulary seem to suggest she is highly educated nonetheless.
Fluttershy loves her friends. When Fluttershy succeeds in making a friend, she makes the internal commitment to serve and protect them. In difficult situations this sense of duty overrides her normally shy nature and she enters what can only be described as 'super mother mode'. In this disposition, she loses all sense of fear, raises her voice and her eyes get hard and through a combination of determination and appeal the basic core principles of treating each other fairly, she can intimidate even very large and mean creatures to the point of tears. Fluttershy claims to have not yet learned to control 'the stare' but her friends know it will always surface when needed.
Every pony has limitations and Fluttershy is no exception. She may act shy but secretly she craves the love and attention she gets from her animal companions and friends. Deprived of this love and attention, she very quickly becomes frustrated and soon devolves into increasingly desperate measures such as entrapment, pursuit, and even screaming.
Angel Bunny is Fluttershy's companion. He is a small white rabbit with more personality than many ponies and all of the organizational skills of a professional secretary. (Side note: he seems to be heavily based on the rabbit assistant of the Great Moochik from G1) Angel knows more than he can say which gives rise to rumors when he's seen doing anything seemingly randomly...
