Letters from Sable Night, The Backlog

A bundle of papers have arrived on the town notice board, this time, there are many, all of different handwriting, but all carrying the same seal. It seems there was a problem in the letter chain and they all ended up being delivered at the same time. There are several, if not many, though it appears some may have been lost in transit. However, somepony has gone through the trouble to put them in proper order using their post date. How thoughtful.

Dear Residents of Ponyville:

It has been a week since I last was able to write to you all, I am doing work on a chartered boat set for the place that I see across the waves. It is difficult work, but it makes me happy to know that I am seeing the world and will have many experiences to share with you. I felt a tiny bit ill from the motions of the uhmn.. boat. Yes, that's right, at first. However, I have seemed to adapt to it quite well. The driver of the boat says I have 'remarkabull seelegs'. I thanked him, but I'm pretty sure I don't have anything like that. The scent around me is indescribably free, as if the entire world is my seashell creature the name of which escapes me. I will be writing you again when we land.

Hoping you keep warm and joyful, Sable Night

Dear Residents of Ponyville:

We made landfall today, a short time ago. It is a thriving city made of beautiful white stone and many shinier stones. There are some ponies here, but more common are the gryphons and some strange scaled creatures. They seem to be dragons, but they aren't at all big enough! So that can't be right. Additionally, there are odd creatures that are tremendously strong and have a fondness for digging, but do not appear to be very sociable outside their own kind. I still have yet to see anypony like myself on my travels, I suppose that we are a terribly rare breed. I plan to take a job at a local business until I am able to continue my travels, and I hope that all goes well.

Filled with wonder about the diversity of people, Sable Night

Dear Residents of Ponyville:

I met an archeologist on my travels today, and he has taught me many things about the world, that even in palces where there are not cities, there may be cultures buried or forgotten, like the old castle in Everfree, an' uhmn.. Well, I can't think of anything else, really. He steered me around a mining town filled with the strange strong creatures I met some time ago, this new land is beginning to get colder by the day, and it is not just because of the change in seasons. This place seems like it is cold all the time! Isn't that strange? I think so. I will be writing to you again as soon as I get the chance.

The world is a curious and wide place isn't it, Sable Night.

Dear Residents of Ponyville:

Have you been enjoying my letters? I have seen so many wonderful places in my time travelling. I miss Equestria greatly, but there is a huge wide world to see! Some how I seem to make what other consider incredibly time on my journey, but I don't understand why they say this. It has only been several months, there is still so much more to see! But, still, I kinda am getting a bit homesick. It's nice! I feel like I have a beacon to return to, a place around which my world spins. I am approaching a lush place, hot, humid, with many big plants and bigger animals! It smells wonderfully fragrant and I cannot wait to explore it. I do not understand why so many are scared to travel beyond the reach of their cities. There is nothing in this world to be afraid of!

Missing you and might be returning soon, Sable Night.

Dear Residents of Ponyville:

There is so much that I have seen and done, and I hope that these letters find you well. I hope to see familiar faces upon my return, I truly do! It seems like everyone has hard times sometimes, and the more I travel, the more I find myself gaining, what I guess I should call perspective, a sense of scale. I like this world, and I think that I will be travelling like this often, but I will always come home. I noticed a new constellation in the sky that I'm certain wasn't there before. It reminds me of two ponies twirling about each other in an eternal dance. It's terribly beautiful, though, somehow, it makes me feel sad...

Contemplating the Majesty of the Wide World and Beyond, Sable Night

That appears to be the end of the letters, though there are fragments of paper that do not appear to have any writing on them, they must have been lost in transit. The world can be a dangerous place, but he seems to be doing well.
