Moonshade made a rather disappointed face, "You are not staying?". His sad expression quickly changed to a blushing smile as he heard about the invitation: "Well to be honest I have an Invitation too, but I never have a reason to go. Even though I like everypony around here being in their presence is not making me any more happy than the usual. But I guess I can make an exception this time! So yes I would love to go!" He then pulled out his invitation out of his bag and checked the time and place. "Oh it is going to start soon! If it hasn't already started that is!". " I wonder if I can go like this?... Oh well it will have to do!", he thought to himself. He then looked back at Diamond Charm, while putting back the Invitation into his bag, "Do you know anypony here? If not the Party would be the perfect moment to introduce you!"

"Ponyville? That's on the other side of Canterlot... Wow. That was one parabolic arc." Marbles looks up at the hole in the roof with new respect....

...and then remembers he needs to pay for that. "Oh, excuse me! I need to find the curator of this establishment."

Lunar Melody was about to question the mysterious brown pony further about his new arrival, when she caught some movement out of the corner of her eyes. Her plum orbs refocused on the silver Pegasus approaching, a small smile shyly gracing her muzzle.

"My apologies, I didn't see you there before!" she said softly, still keeping one ear turned towards the other conversations. She turned a bit more to face the new pony, still keeping herself oriented towards the others as well in case they spoke to her again.

The Pegasus smiles, and shrugs, his amber eyes focused on the mare. The sapphire Pegasus seemed rather shy, but polite. He flutters his wings a bit, exposing the wind shaped cutie mark on his flank. It was a nervous habit. He really needed more practice talking with mares. He'd always been a little too caught up in his flying to really make any close friends. Maybe today was the opportunity to change that. He clears his throat, and chuckles nervously.

"No worries. My name is Zephyr Haste. I haven't seen you around before, and I was curious. What's your name? Where are you from?"

The sapphire Pegasus smiled warmly at the other pony, folding her own wings. "Lovely to meet you, Zephyr. Such an interesting name, I can't say I've heard that one very often..." She began to say, trailing off for a moment before shaking her head a bit and putting her focus back on Zephyr. "I'm sorry, I get a bit distracted sometimes. My name is Lunar Melody, and I've recently moved here from Canterlot. I just finished moving the rest of my belonging yesterday, actually." she said, her smile growing again. She shifted a bit on her hooves, getting comfortable as the other pony seemed as though he wished to talk for a bit.

Diamond grins at his disappointment, "Oh, don't be so down. We've only just met! I think I should go mad if I were to steer clear of the hustle and bustle of city living for too long. As for the party, it's not until later. I had some other errands I have to run before I can go, though, so I really must be going - I think I'm going to be late as it is. Will I see you there?

Marbles decided to wander around the library, glancing at the books as he went. "This really is a somewhat unusual organization pattern. Although, understandable, given how OH FARKWONKLES IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS?!"

He zoomed over to the ladder, swinging it over to another spot with his tail; and clambered up with a maniac grin. "It IS! Look at that! Right there, a copy of Sillicate And Its Vast Variation Of Usage! I haven't seen this book in years! PONIES; LOOK AND BE ASTOUNDED BY THIS FOUNT OW KNOWLEDGE!"

Distracted by the sudden yell, Zephyr shoots an incredulous look at Marbles before returning his attention to Lunar. He relaxes somewhat, feeling a bit more comfortable now that she hasn't blown him off like the last mare he talked too. Maybe his luck was finally changing.

"Don't worry about it, my heads in the clouds more often than not," he says with a small smile.

"That's a very nice name, it suits you. But I'm curious, what brought about the move. I've never been to Canterlot, but from what I hear it isn't a bad place to live. Why the change?"

Lunar also turned her attention at hearing the exclamation of Marbles. She saw the book he was holding up, but she had absolutely no idea what all of the excitement was about. Of course she did love books and reading for general knowledge, but for the most part her attention was always focused on music.

The young pony looked back to Zephyr, smiling again as she replied, "That's just it; Change. I've lived in Canterlot all of my life, and it really is lovely, but I wanted to see somewhere new. To find inspiration for my music." She adjusted her wings, allowing a playful little flash of her cutie mark. She did enjoy showing off the brilliant gold mark on her flank once in a while, after all.

Sandy trotted along the grass towards the Library just as she had done so many days before. It had become almost mechanical now, humming with her eyes contently shut as she approached the door as always, opened it up and stepped inside. She was an Earth Pony, her coat a light tan color and her mane and tail a matching deep blue with lighter highlights. Her hooves were covered in dirt, her face was dotted with black ink splotches and her mane and tail were a tangled mess littered with sticks and burrs. Slung over her rump was a pair of saddle bags and above her ear was a wet ink pen. Her eyes still shut and her mouth still humming, she made her way across the book-covered wall to a nook where stacks of rolled-up sheets of paper bundled together. Setting her saddle bags down, showing a cutie mark of a Parchment Treasure Map, she opened the bags which appeared to be filled with similar rolls of paper that she added to the stack. Once done, she tucked her bags into the nook along with the scrolls, briskly turned around and promptly tripped over a book carelessly tossed in the middle of the floor.

"This is new." she muttered, looking down to see a book highlighting a Mare by the name of Rarity who appeared to make clothing out of magic or something. "What is a book doing in the middle of the floor? Is this part of Twilight's new organizational methods? I was starting to grow rather fond of the Hoofy-Decimal System she was using before."

She looked up to find that, rather unlike usual, she wasn't alone. Quite the contrary as she appeared to be in bountiful company. That and the window was smashed.

"Hey, why is the window broken?"

Marbles, who had fallen through the roof, twitched an ear and looked at the broken window. "...I most certainly did not do that!"

He skidded down the ladder, book in mouth, and walked over to examine the glass shards.

Moonshade nodded in approval:"I will be there! And now that I think of it I got something to do first too! So yes, see you there!". Moonshade took his book and put it in his bag. He then waved at Diamond Charm and went out of the Library. Once outside he started to think about this really awkward conversation he just had... Why would he get so upset about her leaving soon? As she pointed it out, he doesn't know her. The invitation made him smile though, often everypony just ignores him. So he trotted happily towards his home.

Sandy looked over the broken glass pondering and then her eyes widened with realization. "Oh yes, another pony jumped through it earlier and then..." she pointed her hoof over to another window, also broken. "...he jumped through that window. And then later he smashed through the roof of the SCC. It was really quite the mess. Oh, and the roof here is smashed too! I think it might be going around. By and by, I'm Sandy. You are?" she asks Marbles.

Diamond gives Moonshade a confident nod and a wave as he leaves. Gathering her books, she giggles 'It's really not much effort to make friends here. Why, if we were in Manehattan, he'd have simply gotten angry and had me removed!'.

She leaves her books, new dog-eared pages and all, in a neat pile on the table. Giving another low bow to the librarian, she quickly makes for the exit.

"I know the feeling. Coudsdale is nice, but it gets fairly routine after a while. The only way I can stave off the boredom is flying..."

He pauses, staring off into space as he remembers the first time he took to the skies. A smile flits across his face, then fades.

"Actually, I've been coming here to Ponyville on and off for a few years now. I have to say I like the place. It doesn't have quite the view that Cloudsdale has, but it's incredibly more entertaining, especially today. I should come here more often."

A thought suddenly occurs to him, "Hey, what are some of the musical pieces you wrote? Who knows, I might have heard some."

"Mm amf..."

Marbles, realizing he's still holding the book in his mouth, looks around for some place to put it down. Eventually he just sets it on the ground and places his hoof on the cover.

"I am Marbles. Scientist. Right now I am..."

He tilts his head.

"...what should I be doing right now anyway...?"

Lunar watched the other Pegasus with interest as he spoke, nodding in understanding. Despite the wings on her back, she had never flown up to Cloudsdale before. It certainly sounded lovely, though. But of course, as with any location, seeing it every day would dull somepony's interest after a while. Also, each place had its own special qualities that would attract somepony to it. Change was necessary sometimes.

She was shaken from her thoughts as she heard Zephyr asking about her musical compositions. She opened her mouth to respond, thought a moment and closed it, before resigning with a sigh. "I'm afraid my compositions haven't really been played much by anypony else. I've tried to get them played by some of the larger orchestras, but nopony was really interested. They say it's a bit too different, that music isn't ready for what I write." she replied, dropping her gaze a bit and glancing to the side. "That's partly why I came here, to get some new inspiration to come up with something else, and keep trying."

Lunar kept her eyes down for a moment, before smiling and bringing her head back up. "I suppose that's why my mother always said I was the black pony of the family." she said with a chuckle.

He wondered how he would be able to maintain focus in that library. The night before was unforgiving, which inspired him to do some research. Sleep was never his forte, but it seemed as though things were getting worse. The tired blue pony rubbed a hoof under his tired eyes, trying to keep himself up. Not even today's coffee binge would keep the colt's eyes from drooping. At least there was a wealth of information available to him, but something did bother him. What was with the broken window? Destruction only inspired the Pegasus pony to tread carefully. Shenanigans were likely to be ahoof.

Entering the library, he scanned the shelves for the wealth of knowledge that they contained. "D," he thought, "Just focus on getting to the D section." Suppressing a yawn, he began his search.

Sandy reached out her hoof and fervently shook the Pony's hoof and then took Mable's hoof (whether he was willing to relinquish it or not) and began to shake it roughly as well.

"How nice to meet a pair of learned ponies such as yourself! Marbles may already know this but you, newpony may not but I'm Sandy and this, as I implied earlier is Marbles. I'm a cartographer and he's a scientist although he didn't really specify what kind of scientist he was. Do tell, what is it that you do? Could you be a chemist or an engineer? An astrologist or meteorologist? Perhaps a geologist or a historian? Lots of things to look into, you know! Aerodynamics and astrophysics, physical therapy and psychology!" she seemed to ramble on, still heartily shaking their hooves. "I could never stay cooped up in a Library forever, oh no, so it's only understandable that I took so naturally to Cartography! It takes Calculus and Trigonometry, Geology and Geography, even understanding in Botany and Zoology! Lots of books to read but more importantly, lots of books to write because it's a big, bright world out there! Unless it's a cloudy day and the sky is overcast... Or if you're underneath a canopy of leaves... or underground... or during a solar eclipse! There's also night time as well, which really takes up half the day. Most ponies don't think about night time because they're usually asleep and I'm probably among them but I guess that's what got Nightmare Moon so bent out of shape didn't it? A lot of people said she was only a legend but then POOF there she was! But that's how legends go, don't they? You never know which one is true, which one is false and which ones are just exaggerations. I like legends too. They tell of a lot of places that aren't on maps but could be on a map if you looked hard enough to find them. OOOH! Have you ever been to the ruins of Galloponia? Quite a fascinating place and it teaches us so much about our heritage! Of coarse, I don't really know about the heritage of ponies, I just like to explore and find new things and places. Would you like to see a map I drew of it?"

She stopped abruptly, still shaking both of the ponies hooves and breathing heavily with a grin.

"Actually, I have multiple degrees. My... condition makes research in many fields an easy thing." Marbles tries to keep up with Sandy as she chipperchitchats at highspeed. "Galloponia... didn't Ratchet Rivermane live there? Did you get to see any of his mechinations? I've had a bit of an obsession with him since I was a foal!"

Sandy places a hoof on her chin, thinking intently. "You know, the name sounds familiar but I can't quite place my hoof on it... Where have I heard that name before?"

She trailed off for a moment and then her tail sprang up in the jolted realization. "Oh! I know why the name sounds familiar! It's because... MY name is Rivers and his name is Rivermane! Funny how close those two names are, isn't it? I can't say I met him though. Sounds neat but I'm not much of a Machination pony. I was too busy drawing and mapping the ruins."

Plucking a book from the shelves, he carries it over to a table. Not really paying any heed to those around, he began to dive into his book, letting his tired eyes glide from page to page, absorbing what he could about the subject of interest.

Zephyr is surprised. He'd expected a bit more success from somepony who lived in Canterlot.

"That's a shame, I'm sorry to hear that," he says disappointed. Suddenly he gets an idea, and his ears begin to twitch with excitement.

"Hey why don't I listen to some of it. I would love to hear some of it, and that way I can spread the word and maybe drum up some commissions for you!" His ears begin to twitch again as he gets excited once again. "Trust me, I know how it feels to be different. I'm the best flyer in my family, and all my brothers love to make fun of me for it, call me a momma's boy and things like it. My parents are just as bad, both of them are complete bookworms. I'm mostly just an errand boy to them."

He sighs again, "Well, at least flying great is better than being stuck on the ground like earth ponies."
