I've noticed a lot of pony music videos around, especially on Equestria Daily. not all of it is my cup of tea but I always enjoy the ponies, of course. My favorite types of music are Classic and Techno. how about you all?

I'm pretty taken with the stuff that Notacleverpony has been putting out of late!

However, yesterday on Equestria Daily they posted a song from a promising artist who alludes to having once made lots of music but never having done remixes or even music in general for a while. If this is incomplete, I can't wait to hear the finished product! Anyway, the tune is supposed to be the old opening theme for MLP, and if you listen, you can kinda hear it. It's BARELY recognizable, but still quite enjoyable, so give it a listen!

I have to say, I love every kind of music the artist put his soul into it. I mean you can feel the difference between a song that was made(or sung) for Money, than one that was made to get a message out or to enjoy yourself. (But I can also appreciate other songs than those) So there are several bands I like. I will try to show some of those:

-The Shins
With one of my favorite songs:

-Joanna Newsom
This artist is special, I discovered it by accident when I heard about it from somepony from my family and I instantly liked it. The text is simply wonderful and her voice is just awesome.

And the last one(I don't want to make a huge post!)

-Stupeflip
This band is VERY special, it is really weird and only some songs I like. Their other songs are way too aggressive for me (that makes me sound like a wealking). The band is french btw, and for those who understand it, the text is really good too.

Ok, there we go!

I have a tendency to prefer either ridiculously contemporary classical music such as works written by John Mackey, Aaron Copeland, Eric Whitacre and Phillip Glass or ridiculously old classical music (Stravinsky, Dvorak). Some people have labeled me as living under a rock because the bulk of my interests lie within the classical genre. In fact, anypony's into marching band and the like, you all may find Drum Corps International program interesting.

I do of course enjoy more modernized music every so often. Pinkie Pie's songs are absolutely charming and the fan-made music is always a treat if done properly! One of my friends frequently makes PMVs and two of his have been featured on Equestria Daily.

Oops! I (mistakenly) thought that we were talking about pony music!

I really enjoy more eccentric types of bands like Mew or Thrice, odd for reasons beyond my understanding of music theory.

Here, have some Mew.

Now have some Thrice.

Well I might as well go for maximum nerd saturation. Behold, videogame fan music!

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/miracle-of-sound

Please note that The Ballad of Clay Carmine, Commander Shepperd, and Santiago's Lament were made for You Tube as a hobby before he got a professional budget and a job making fan songs for videogames. The songs are still awesome though; I don't even like Gears of War and I like those songs. Even if you haven't played the games, the songs are rather catchy. A warning though, Necromoph Soup and Fire in Your Hole are NSFW and should not be listened to near any foals....and now I want to listen to Fire in Your Hole again. Crab apples this stuff is addictive!

Favorite artists are Midori, Clutch, Korpiklaani, Cibo Matto, and M.I.A.
Favorite genres are Blues Rock, Swing, Folk Metal, Jazz Punk, Stoner Rock, and North Korean Propaganda.

No idea how to accurately explain it, but I present some Radio Pyongyang:

I went ahead and used the '' shortcut and just put in the video ID, after some fiddling.

I try my best not to see music in terms of genres and just focus on the quality of individual songs, since there'll always be exceptions to a persons dislike of a certain genre anyway. So in that sense, I guess I like every kind of music. Some of my favorite musical artists include
Yoko Kanno
k-os
Philip Glass
Poets of the Fall
& Pogo
Oh man, I cannot insist more strongly that everypony check out Pogo's work. Here's his Youtube page where he posts most of his music videos.

I like music primarily from the 80's and 90's, which for me were my teens and twenties. Pink Floyd, The Police, Sting, U2, and the Talking Heads are my top favorites. I'm also into folk, bluegrass, and Celtic music.

I love "No Rain" by Blind Melon, too. The little 'bee girl' in the video is too cool. :D She spends the whole video being turned away, laughed at, etc., until she finally finds a field with a bunch of other weirdos all dressed like bees, where she's finally accepted. Replace bees with ponies, and that's us!

Needs more obscurity.

The entire album is made up of Pepsi commercial clips, and songs about Pepsi.
The most mainstream soda concept album around.
Something slightly less mainstream would be about, Orange Crush or something.
Whereas something hipster would be about Shasta.

I like depressing instrumentals that I could easily use to fuel my horror fix.

Cleeeeeck

And also anything to do with Luna, but that's a given. Oh, and musicals.

Cleeeeeeck

Cleeeeck

Oh those crazy... I mean, CLEEEEEEEECK

And quirky things from the Sixties.... and OLDER.

Cleeeeeeck

And I've had a love affair with the White Stripes since Icky Thump.

I see your Kamen Rider; and raise you The Weird Lord Slough Feg:

How is this 'nerdy'?
Every song was inspired by games of Traveller (a Pen and Paper RPG in SPPAAAAAAACCEEEE)

Spoiler: show
This assumption has no basis in fact, besides every song by this band sounding like a Rogue Trader/Traveller campaign or backstory for a character in such a campaign.
