Poker Night in Equestria

After seeing some ponies talking IC about a Poker Game, I thought maybe it might be worthwhile to see if we could organize a real online game of Texas Hold Em between some of us silly ponies.

The program i use, personally, is www.pokerth.net because you can customize starting amounts and that sort of thing really easily. So if anybody is interested, post and we'll see when most of us are available. A game can have between 2 and 10 ponies in it. So yeah.

I also think it'd be fun to stay in-character during the game. But that's just me.

Also note: This is NOT for real money, obviously.

We had our first game tonight.

Twilight Sparkle (Mayday), Sunset Skye, John Morris, Macabre Haze and Spitfire. Finished at the table in that order. Had great fun, looking forward to making this a regular thing, guys!

No surprise Mayday won it... she's like some kind of odds-calculating robot.

Really glad it worked out, i'm looking forward to more! For those who did make this one, what did you think of the length/blind increase rate etc? I wanna make sure anything that felt too long/short/big/small can get tweaked if possible to make it even more fun.

The blinds didn't go up too quickly but they went up too high. I think we need a lower max blinds.

Maybe set them to just go up by 20 every 8 hands, instead of doubling every 8 hands?

Well no, just set it to stop doubling at a certain point. Like so it doesn't go above... I dunno. Something.

That said, keep in mind once the game starts more players can't join so we need everypony on at the same time.

Last week i ran it around 21:00 server time, i'm thinking it'll be about the same. If we get enough stragglers they can always start their own table, but that obviously won't be the same. Also, the client limits us to ten, so if we get over 10 we'll need to split up into smaller groups anyhow.

Make sure you all hit up http://www.pokerth.net/download.html and snag the program, just download the zip version, unzip it, and that's all you have to do. You can register if you want so you can have a name aside from guest349638549whatever, but you don't -have- to do that either, pretty painless.
