"...You do know Hoofington has a telescope, don't you?" Fireflare sighed. "You don't even have a map, do you. NEVER FLY WITHOUT A MAP! THIRD LESSON EVERY PEGASUS LEARNS!"

She was yelling again, but that dangerous calm had dissipated.

"You do NOT know what the winds will be like up there, so you HAVE to have some way to figure out where you are in case you CRASH! LIKE YOU DID! You are [bleeping] lucky you wound up near civilization, mister! You're even more [bleeping] lucky Charms was there to take up the SLACK! That's it, you, me, hang glider lessons TOMORROW!"

Stealthily crawling along the ceiling of the small home, a gem spider let out a heroic screech before leaping on Fireflare's back.

((OOC: I'm sorry, MW, but I need you to fix your last post, please. For one, you're assuming that my character is a complete idiot. For two, with as quickly as events unfolded, it seems unlikely that she would've been hired to chase down a plane that passed overhead 1-2 hours ago, and is already here. Somepony would've had to see it while you were standing right there, decided without investigating that it was dangerous, and hired you on the spot to deal with it. For three, it's shown several times in the show that Canterlot isn't terribly far from Ponyville, and there really isn't anything between those two settlements.

Now, I'd be perfectly fine if you decided to introduce an actual airborne threat, such as a roc or a drake or some other flying monster that, coincidentally, arrived in Ponyville on the same day as Sunset's plane...but what you just posted makes no sense in any context of that phrase. We can continue once this issue has been rectified.

Whiny at this point came bursting in though the front door, stopping to wipe her hooves and close the door. "Hey Sunset Dream, hey Diamond Charm, sorry I'm late but there was hugs and Grape Jelly found her bees and is now stayign with Twilight Sparkle and I met a new pony named Safe Summers and hello new po....Hi, my name is Whiny Mane, but people call me Whiteeyes cause I gots white eyes, and this is Mr. Bunny, what's your name?" she asked of the pony that was suddenly under spider attack.

Diamond quickly levitates Toralcia onto her own back to keep a full blown fight from breaking out between the two. Hoping Summer can correct Flare on his own. She waved at Whiny before introducing them, "Flare, this is my house mate, Whiny, and this," she lifts a shoulder, "Is Toralcia, a friend from the Everfree."

She grimaced, hoping that not all introductions of old and new friends went so poorly as her introduction of Flare to Sunset.

Toralcia struggles, hisses and screeches indignantly as she is lifted from her quarry's shoulders. How DARE this new visitor enter her new home and begin shouting at guests like this? As auspicious as Tory's own entry was, she failed to understand why it was her being pulled off somepony and not Flare.

For the record, Fireflare is the one assuming Sunset is an idiot. Not me. She's an angry sort, and right now she's very annoyed at having chased down nothing and taking it out on your character. Your other points are valid though, I have changed the post to reflect that.

Fireflare didn't even acknowledge the spider as she glared at Sunset--- but Whiney's sudden interruption managed to distract her. "Wait. Whiny? Didn't we used to hang out?" Mercifully, she pulled back from the object of her wrath and examined the newcomer.

Diamond giggles, "That's incredible! You two know each other? Equestria shrinks every day it seems. Whiny, Fireflare was my best friend growing up. She used to get me into all manner of trouble."

Diamond grinned at Flare, knowing that she herself was often just as responsible for the trouble the two caused.

[Whiteeyes]

Whiny stops. I know this pony? she wonders as she thinks back....back...back...not that far back...OK I think I got it. "Weren't you that red pegasus that took me to see DJ PON-3 at the first party I even went to? You hung out with that pirate pony if I remember right..."

Sunset just stared at the red pegasus for a long moment. His brain was trying to process how telescopes in Hoofington equated to his need for a map...a map which he had, but didn't do him a lot of good, since he had no control over the plane from not long after Marbles had jumped onto it. He was trying to fathom howshe could assume he hadn't sought flight advice from pegasi before--he had, in fact, talked to several during the planning phase, and had two working with him on the construction phase.

His eye twitched. "Excuse me, Miss Fireflare. I'm going to have to turn down your generous offer." His voice held barely-concealed irritation. "I'm going to be extremely busy tomorrow. Don't concern yourself with what I'm going to be busy with, and don't worry about trying to schedule a different time. I'm not as stupid as you think I am, and I'm not interested in your hang glider lessons."

[Masterweaver]

The red pegasus nodded. "Yeah, that's right! Heh, pirate pony. Haven't heard that in--"

"I'm not as stupid as you think I am, and I'm not interested in your hang glider lessons."

Fireflare immediately whipped back around. "Listen, you want to fly? You had BETTER learn the basics from a born flier! It's not as easy as it looks on the ground, you have to be able to identify wind currents and stormfronts or you're liable to be shredded!"

She sighed, pulling in her wings slowly. "Look. You spent a lot of time on that bird of yours. I can respect that. But you can't mimic something without understanding how it works. Yes, you got the thing off the ground and kept it off for a good while, but you had decent weather today. I don't want to see you cracking your skull open because you missed something that any pegasus could have told you. You've got more then enough brains to spare; a decent comprehension of airflight isn't going to hurt you."

[Diamond Charm]

Diamond finally sighed and moved between the two, "That's enough, both of you. Sunset, she's only trying to help, and I personally can't think of a better way to kick back and relax for somepony who loves to fly than a day in the air, like she's offering you. As for you, Flare, if he doesn't want to 'learn' how to hang glide, and is in fact offended by the offer, it may be because his trip here was just LIKE hang gliding in that it was pretty much a constant fall with upward mobility. Or maybe he would have had to understand the basic concepts of flight to construct his machine. Or maybe he flat out doesn't like accepting lessons from ponies he not only doesn't know but yell at him before they know his full story. Or maybe he is afraid of flying. Now will both of you please relax and try not to rip each others' throats out? If this keeps up I may have to sic Tory on both of you."

Toralcia let out an incensed screech at this and leapt off Diamond's back. She chittered sagely up at Flare in the language of spiders, [I am no attack spider. Unless *I* want to attack you, you will remain perfectly safe. Frankly her manner of speaking to me is offensive, and I will have to do something about that soon.]

[Sunset Dream]

Sunset sighed. He looked from Diamond to Fireflare. "I'm sorry," he finally said, to both of them. "I've had a stressful day, too. Fireflare, there were several pegasi on my team. They worked not only to help me design the wings for my bird, but to teach me a lot of the basics of flight. We had devices to measure the wind direction and speed. I had a map. The problem was, on takeoff, another pony leapt on the tail of my plane--Celestia alone knows why. This put a lot of pressure on the tail end, as far as I can tell, and dislodged one of the connectors going back to the tailfin. No tailfin put more stress on the wings for steering, and that broke something in the gear-box. The problem was that the plane's inner workings aren't sturdy enough... I need a metal that's sturdy and strong, but lightweight and non-magical... Thank you for the offer, though."

[Masterweaver]

Fireflare blinked. "...oh. You did do research. I suppose... Huh."

She sat down on the couch across from Sunset.

[Whiteeyes]

"Well I don't think you can make something that flys that far without a lot of work and study, even if it did crash." Whiny noted. "Anyway, you guys should maybe go, Diamond Charm has a hurt leg and needs to rest, so she needs quiet, got it?"

[Diamond Charm]

Diamond smiles pleasantly at Whiny, "Sunset is to sleep on our couch for the evening while he figures out what to do next... Unless he'd prefer to spend the evening at the library after all? Besides, I think Flare and I have a little catching up to do." She grinned at her childhood friend and seated herself next to her desk.

[Sunset Dream]

Sunset grinned some and extended a hoof to Fireflare. "Heh, so...let's try this again, huh? I'm Sunset Dream, engineer, cloud-brain, and hot-head." He did glance gratefully to Diamond for reaffirming that he could stay, but aside to Whiny, he said, "I'll try to keep it down, sorry."

[Masterweaver]

"Right. I'm Fireflare, quick as lightning and just as fickle." The pegasus stuck out a conciliatory hoof, smirking. "Nice to meet you and you WILL be sending me reports on your bird from now on."

[Diamond Charm]

Diamond giggled excitedly, "With any luck at all, updates will be public domain, soon!"

She doesn't elaborate, hoping to keep her old friend guessing.

[Whiteeyes]

"So he's staying over......hold on please." Whiny said, dashing upstairs. She quickly returned with extra bedding for their house-guest. "Oh, nice to meet you again Fireflare. So, what ever happened to that pirate pony?"

[Sunset Dream]

He chuckled some. "Well, nopony's getting any reports at all until I find what I need..." He smiles at Whiny, nodding in thanks for the bedding.

[Masterweaver]

Fireflare grinned. "I think she went into politics. Natural revolution, right?" She looked over at Diamond, stretching her wings. "So you're funding this guy then? Good luck."

[Diamond Charm]

"Luck is going to have nothing to do with it. I know he can do this," Diamond laughed, already planning out the various projects and ways a pony could benefit from being able to fly without the assistance of a pegasus. She yawns and shakes her head, "On second thought... I'm feeling kind of tuckered out. It HAS been a long day. Flare? If you want, you're welcome to stay and chat with Whiny. Otherwise, have a good night."

"Well that's sudden. I have to get going anyway, Charms - I'll catch you later!" Flare left the house as quickly as she entered and soared off into the night sky.
