Princess Celestia said that only she and Luna knew the spell to open the vault that held the Elements of Harmony.
That has me wondering if Discord got to Luna first... ?

Didn't Lauren Faust say that we won't be seeing Luna in any of the season one episodes?
And 'The return of Harmony' is all season one material.

It would have been difficult for Princess Luna to open the door, the chain Princess Celestia uses to keep her in her room is VERY short.

I've changed the thread title to turn this into more of an overall discussion thread for Season 2.
So... what does Cheerylee call Discord?
I originally heard 'draconicus,' but I've also seen it spelled 'draconoquist' and 'dragonequus.' That last two seem more appropriate because I can sort of hear a 'q' in what she says. The very last one is especially cool because of the 'equus' ending.
However, the same clip on the official Hub site says it's Dragonokis.
What do you think it's supposed to be?
Also... I spotted the first blooper of the new season. Twist doesn't have her Cutie Mark.

More speculation. YAY!
Princesses Celestia and Luna used the Elements of Harmony to turn Discord to stone.
But perhaps some lingering effect of Discord is what planted the seeds of jealously in Luna's mind?
Nightmare Moon = Discord Luna!
But that makes her banishment to the moon even MORE sad and unfair...

Faust DID say it was some evil magic or something that turned Luna into Nightmare Moon.

As I recall, Celestia said that only her and Luna were powerful enough to open it. By that logic, Discord is just as powerful, if not more powerful than the Princesses. Or at least, that's how I interpreted it...

What I learned from Season 2 Episode 2:
1) Discordant ponies are noticeably different. Even Spike saw that the Mane 6 were gray.
2) Rainbow Dash is the strongest of the Mane 6. Twilight subdued AJ by herself, but it took all 5 to catch Dash.
3) I know I had a 3... I'll post it when I remember.

Found this in that huge interview with Jason Thiessen, made me so, so, so very happy and totally raised my hopes for the second season. (From high to 'oh my gosh yes)
And of course, stuff like this:
By that same token, he's adamant about not changing the show to suit "our" tastes; he firmly believes that if the show exactly as it is is what we fell in love with, then by God they're going to keep making that show. (Whenever some fan in the audience would ask some dumb question about "hey are you gonna put some OCs of high-profile fandom contributors in the background?", the rest of the crowd would shout him down or cheer when Jayson said no.)
And of course, stuff like this:
There won't really be any "heavy" stories coming that they can foresee. They're going to be staying away from that kind of thing.
We "may" see more of the ponies' parents.
"There is a new villain." (He put on an "oh shoot" expression right after this, like he legitimately didn't mean to let that slip out.)
