Nightmare Night Costume contest thread

Contest details as follow:

Rules:

1. Character must be in actual roleplay in the chat or forum, with their actual costume in the next four days between October 30 and November 2 2011
2. costume can be in the form of text description, drawing, and / or whatever method that will shows other roleplayer what the costume look like
3. You are encouraged to go around showing off your design ahead of time or after within those 4 days
4. Costume entering the contest must be posted in this thread, with the character name, description / drawing /etc, optionally a small roleplay exchange to help me check better.
5. Top 10 character costumes (picked by me and Oni) goes into a front page poll for a week, more then one character can go onto the poll, but only one prize per person!
6. Must be PG and suitable for younger audience viewing
7. Entry dead line is November 3 2011

Judging will be base on humorous, pretty, creative, spooky, etc. It is really not meant to be a serious competition and more just for fun.

I will edit your post and mark it as "entered" after it is entered into the contest. So you don't need to ask if your entry have been counted.

Note: Prize delivery are likely to be severally delayed because I am not in US. These guys don't even ship there and doesn't take out of country Credit card! We will work it out but you will eventually get prize if you win!

This is our first contest, so please be patient with us! Details are subjected to changes depends on difficulty or technical problem but we will make sure it is fair and fun for all!

Dr Steelshard dances erratically as strangely whimsical, almost childish industrial grunge music plays in the background, rapping along with the Good Doctor her costume mimics, able to keep up with the rapid fire lyrics only due to her fanatic memorization of those favorite songs of hers. In front of the small stage is a table booth, with a couple of ponies dressed in black military officer's uniforms, with red armbands bearing Dr Steelhoof's logo, happily answering questions about the Future World Emperor, and his goals of World Domination, and of building a Utopia Playland. They give out samples of Dr Steelhoof's Mind Control Cookies, hand out buttons, pins and hair clips bearing the Doctor's logo, or that of the Toy Army, sell the dolls and action figures that bear likeness to Dr Steelhoof, a Toy Soldier pony, and one of those creepy toy robot ponies, and happily proclaim their loyalty to both the Good Doctor, and World Domination Toys.

Doctor Steelhoof's Army of Toy Soldiers has staged an invasion of Ponyville! Prepare for FUN! Enjoy music! Buy all his toys! Help fund World Domination!

Kind Shadow of The Colossus

My character Kind Shadow dressed as Wander from Shadow of the Colossus.

In character, he is reusing an old costume. It is the outfit of a past hero ((Also known as Wander)), to pay homage to him. To most he is probably only known as an old mare's tale, or the stuff of foal tales, but some do know the old legends and the true history of one of the greatest Monster Hunters of Equestria.

The legends of Wander's (and his partner and closest friend Agro) exploits have grown over the years and its hard to what is just myth and what actually happened, but the common theme of two friends casting aside everything purely for love is present among all the stories.

Centuries later, he is now a semi popular nightmare night costume.

The pegasus approaches you with more of a strut than a trot, or perhaps a swagger is a better term.. This is of course an impressive feat in and of itself considering his platform shoes, which are a good two hooves high and bright purple with gold vertical stripes down them. He's decked out in a crushed velvet suede suit in purple, with thin gold stripes and gold cufflinks. Draped over that is a pure white overcoat made of fake fur which just rests over his back more like a cape than anything. Around his neck is a -huge- clock on a thick gold chain, but it reads 'pony' in each of the spots where a number should be. He's wearing oversized sunglasses studded with fake diamonds, and on his head is a wide brimmed purple hat with an enormous feather in it. Tucked under one wing is an ostentatious gold cane with a huge fake diamond atop it, a round one with the number 8 on the sides of it like it's a pool ball. But the punch line comes when he smiles.. "And just what are you?" You naturally ask. The pony just gives you a look, then grins. His teeth are gold, and studded in little diamonds which reads out 'BALLA.' There's your answer, but for the record we'll call it 'vintage club apparel.'

She starts to descend, seemingly out of the sun itself. Her wings are sweeping majestically at her sides; her eyes are closed with a serene, almost angelic expression. Her mane and tail flow out behind her in the gleaming sunlight as she lightly touches down.

Skyblaze, in her hoof-made Princess Celestia costume, takes a few steps forward, trying to retain her majestic air... but immediately steps on her impossibly long wig and faceplants. *splat*

"Oof! Urk! Hold on!" she stammers as she tries to get back to her hooves, a few leaves and sticks stuck to the gooey body paint on her face. She leans forward for balance, but steps on the tail extension this time, completely unbalancing her in the opposite direction. "Waaaugh!"

Skyblaze nods, "Wow how does she walk anyway? Sheesh!" She straightens the wig a bit, and smiles, "TA-DA!"

Muddles has dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. With her usual blue Hairbow actually kept clean and tidy for once, the lass also sports a blue graham-dress and simple white blouse, along with beautifully sparkling ruby-red slippers! She also has a smart little basket, perfect for both trick-or-treating and for completing this ensemble!

Just thought I might as well throw this in. Kelpy dressed as Princess Luna. As a moon worshiper, this little seapony is a big fan of Princess Luna and thanks to a couple of her friends, she get to dress as her favorite Princess for Nightmare Night!

An unsuspecting pony like you would feel the temperature drop rapidly for seemingly no reason at all. A shiver would go through your spine a moment later and you get the feeling your being watched. As you would turn around you would notice the dark and hooded figure behind him. You would back away as the figure silently stepped closer. His form barely visible in the mist surrounding him (( probably caused by this figures ice spell. )) and... is that a... scythe? On closer inspection you would notice the bloodred eyes under the cloak and the bonewhite coat visible around them. The figure would take one step closer before saying in an overly cheery voice. "Happy Nightmare Night!"

This Robot does now to scare,

With fireworks (Harmless I may add),
and a dreadful fog he is twice as bad.

If you see him you may run,
but don't you fear it's all just fun.
For this Robot does not harm.
He is here to spread his charm.

But his appearance is quite scary,
nothing of the ordinary.

Ditzy Doo trots along happily with a smile on her face. She really did go all-out this year on her costume! Of coarse, Dinky Doo helped a lot. Sitting atop Ditzy's head is a brown paper bag and tipping each hoof is a brown paper bag.

"Hey everypony, don't you like my costume?" Ditzy said, striking a pose.

"Uh, ain't that tha same costume ya wore last year? N', lahk, every year fer tha past four years?"

"Of coarse not!" Ditzy laughed. "Last year I was a sack lunch and the year before that I was groceries. The year before that I was a crazy hobo and the year before that I was a brown paper bag! Very different costumes."

"Then what're yawl this year?"

"Isn't it obvious? I'm a Luminaria!"

"A Lumi-what-now?"

"Luminaria! It's those little paper bags you put candles in and they glow."

"But ah' don' see how-"

Ditzy held up a hoof to show she was about to start the demonstration. She closed her eyes tight and started concentrating really, really hard. Her nose scrunched up and she clenched her teeth thinking harder and harder. Her ears lowered back under the strain and then, seemingly out of nowhere, the bag on her head lit right up, glowing brightly.

"Ditzy, how'd yawl do that?"

Ditzy blinked, lost her concentration and the light vanished. "Do what?"

"Nevermind..."

Oh, why not, I'll toss Marl's costume into the mix. I didn't get to play with it as much as I was hoping to, but I got a few good moments at least.



The costumed pony trots down the streets of Ponyville, chuckling slightly and pausing to let a group of eager foals run underhoof to the next house on their route. He looks to the side suddenly, following movement in the corner of his eye, but there's nothing there but more Nightmare Night decorations, so he just shrugs and continues on his way. After a few steps, however, there's another hint of movement, accompanied by a quiet rustle, and he turns to look again, expecting another playful foal or small animal. Once more, he's met with nothing but decorations, even if that stuffed scarecrow looked like it had moved just a bit closer. That was ridiculous, though, and he shakes off the feeling as Nightmare Night superstition, resuming his course toward the center of town to join in the rest of the festivities.

The rustle is this time joined by the unmistakably loud, scraping clatter of hooves on cobblestone. The pony quickly glances over his shoulder, instantly going wide-eyed at the scarecrow quickly bearing down on him, scythe held low and menacing in its dark mouth as small showers of sparks dance up to accentuate every step that brings the figure rapidly closer. His legs scramble to carry him away, but he trips over himself in his panic and holds a hoof above his head defensively, waiting for the inevitable attack that... never comes. The clattering of hooves changes to an odd tempo, and the pony slowly opens his eyes to look at the scarecrow who had just been charging at him seconds earlier. Was he... skipping in place?

The scarecrow is practically giggling around the - now obviously - plastic scythe, and a hint of white can be seen in its eyes around the colored lenses it's wearing. It grins broadly - almost wider than the wicked smile painted on its burlap face - showing off teeth covered in some sort of black wax. Then, with an effervescent bow, it turns and canters off to find a new target, momentarily displaying the specially designed horseshoes that are clearly very old, if the wear and scratches are any indication. It's only got a few short hours before it has to go back to its usual, boring self, and it has to squeeze every bit it can out of the night.
