That's how it's been for the entire time... it wasn't dull then? I honestly think it would make things unnecessarily complicated in the mean time if we dont know what we're doing. (playing twilight)

Well the good news is, Twilight is going to stay Twilight.

it’s not going to change how she is or how she interacts with her friends, she’s staying in Ponyville.

I’m certainly not changing any of my performance and it’s really the same Twilight except she can do more stuff now.

A lot of the fans were worried she is going to leave, but she's going to stay in Ponyville and have adventures with them.

I know this is a little off topic, but reading this makes me hate the finale even more since as it seems to stand, the whole thing really was completely pointless.

I think we should wait and see if they can pull something halfway worthwhile from this mess.

Aside from Twilicorn, we now know that there are weather manipulation spells :raritywink: and that despite growing up on a rock farm, Pinkie stinks at farming. :pinkiesad: And I'm going to assume Rarity did not know that spell just because she suddenly had the wrong cutie mark.

Yeah that is really not how it worked. Rarity really just levitates the cloud around. She never triggers anything or stopped any thing. The hurricane there probably just cause she added the wind wrong. I don't think there are any weather manipulation spell beyond those few small one Trixie or Twilight used.

and that despite growing up on a rock farm, Pinkie stinks at farming. :pinkiesad:.

I don't think they grows rock, they are more like miners.

Mm, true.

And after some thought, I have decided that I hope that this coronation is a temporary thing. I'll switch my vote to keeping things the same.

I think we should wait! To do anything now would be like counting chickens before they hatch, or putting the cart before the horse. No pun intended.

I say Twilicorn, no doubt about it!

It's established via canon that Twilight has been turned into an Alicorn. The writers assure us that Twilight will be returning to Ponyville and resume her usual duties among her friends. Why wouldn't we have Twilight in Ponyville as an Alicorn?

I mean, for Celestia's sake, we had an entire week where Ponyville was Discorded! Just because a lot of you are unhappy with Twilight being an Alicorn or think it may only be temporary doesn't change that it happened and, as far as we know, Twilight will remain so until the show dictates otherwise. I think the obvious answer would be to make Twilight an Alicorn and have her remain so until we see what happens at the beginning of Season 4.

To be honest I think the decision is best left to the one it affects the most regardless of all of our feelings about it: Twilight's player. If she is ready to play alicorn and wants to, let her, if she doesn't feel like doing it yet, don't rush her. It's something that I am pretty sure requires some mental preparation on her part, so be considerate of that.

Personally I see zero chance of them switching back. There is just now way they can some how make that a good thing. This change is set for life for-sure.

Given they haven't failed to deliver so far, I personally don't see any reason to doubt they will handle Princess Twilight as good as they have handled everything else.

I personally don't have a problem playing her either way. If there is a will there is a way. So if you want Princess Twilight don't worry about stressing me out about it.

I'm still willing to bet they're going to change this around. I know they will find some creative way to do it, so they can keep the show how it was originally. I bet this is an extra special special! Then again, with a great show like it is, i also wouldnt be surprised if they kept it. However this show was still made for little kids. And they don't follow along as easily with big plot changes like this, especially if they dont go looking for the shows in order, they just watch whatever re runs are on. I want to wait and either be proven right or wrong. then I want to follow what is happening canonically. we're being left at a cliff hanger, we cant just pretend to know what is going to happen now. we really don't know, so i want to wait and find out for sure.

People keep saying it's a cliff hanger but it really, really isn't. They didn't create any kind of loose end that needs to be tied up. There is no continuous story left open to resolve. There's no great drama that remained at the end of the episode. The only drama that could be conceived as being left open is the drama that the fan community created itself. Really, watch the episode again. It starts, there's a conflict, it gets resolve, Twilight's coronation occurs, then the episode ends. That's not a cliff-hanger. It's just an ending. The only cliff-hanger is created by fan speculation over whether she will remain this way or not.

Regardless of your opinions towards Twilight Sparkle's coronation and becoming an Alicorn, I think this current situation affords us a unique opportunity in our RP. This is our chance to play with an Alicorn Twilight Sparkle! We can explore character reactions, what it means for Ponyville and just plain have fun with it!

Really, there are only two ways this can go:

- Twilight Sparkle returns to being an Unicorn at the beginning of Season 4. If that's the case, we just missed a giant opportunity to have fun with Alicorn Twilight Sparkle which will likely never happen again. All the IC reactions, what it means for Twilight Sparkle, how it affects her relationships with others, it will all get compressed down into a short week of basically everypony clamoring for TS's attention. Doesn't sound very fun for me.

- Twilight Sparkle remains an Alicorn. We were right all along and not changing Twilight Sparkle was simply resisting something we didn't want to accept.

I'm not counting chickens or trying to predict where the show is going. I'm looking at this as an RP where we're meant to have fun and I think staying true to currently-existing canon and making Twilight Sparkle an Alicorn would be fun! If they change her back in Season 4, we'll switch her back when that happens and remain true with the show but until then, lets enjoy the inherent repercussions of such a dramatic shift in the RP. Lets milk this while we got it!

Whether Twilight stays an alicorn or goes back to a unicorn, I'd like to see what happens in the season 4 opener so we have a general idea of how to react here.

That is pretty exactly what I don't want to know, the "how to react properly".

The whole point to me is to be assigned a role and play it as it is. What even is the point to play if you know what you are supposed to do and everything are scripted?

In fact I much rather they don't say anything about how ponies react and go straight back to normal slice of life and we figure out what happen next. Cause, that is like the whole point of roleplay to me.

I'm very much content with either way, though I'm tending towards Mayday here, we don't really need to exactly 'know' what happens because that would really take away the point as Mayday pointed out. If whatever we do is so divergent from canon we can adjust to that when the time comes, it's not like it's going to hurt anybody if that arises. So yeah, I'm definitely willing and would certainly enjoy playing it out.

Can we at least wait until spring then? Twi wasn't coronated with snow on the ground after all.

Scopus here (For those of you who don't recognize the account name)

Personally I lean towards the side of going through with following canon and having her transformation be IC for a while/permanently depending on what the show does in the future. I also like the idea that perhaps we should push it off for a short while, perhaps a little after Winter Wrap Up or something along those lines. I don't really think ponies would necessarily want to have the coronation be an actual RP event, but it's certainly something that would be worth having 'scheduled' I think. Mainly for IC reasons. Was your character there, what were they doing at the time, did they hear about it, etc etc. That's just an idea though, and is fully dependent on what we actually decide to do~

Looks like the New York Times spilled the beans on Equestria Girls. What does that mean for us?

Looks like Twilight Sparkle will have wings in Equestria Girls. That suggests pretty strongly that the wings are here to stay.

Gah!
Also, for the moment, nothing. Equestria Girls and FiM are two separate things which should stay separate as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not entirely sure either. There was another picture that didn't have wings for any of the characters, and the design was kind of different too. Which tells me that one of them is maybe a different artists depiction, or Hasbro is still working out the canon look for the girl characters.

I know I'm a bit late to the rodeo here, but...

Initially I was annoyed with the episode because I had anticipated Twilight's big change to be her beginning studies under Luna. However, it has grown on me and I now consider it my favorite episode.
It has music from one end to the other and all the songs are rock solid hits!

(btw, does anypony have the season 4 premier date?)
